I need help with my Essay ?

I need help with my Essay ?
This is my essay, its about stereotypes. To Stereotype or Not To Stereotype First of all, a stereotype is a generalization, usually about the minority of a group, based on a lack of knowledge. Stereotypes happen everywhere, sometimes without even being aware that you are making a stereotype. People grow up around stereotypes and they aren’t informed what the majority of the people they are making a stereotype about is really like. In Hollywood, stereotypes are shown up in movies a lot. Usually, whoever is the villain of that time period, their culture is going to be stereotypes. For example, when the holocaust was happening most of the villains were German natzis. Furthermore, some groups feel that Hollywood is only showing the stereotyped side of that culture or ethnicity. For example the Arab-Americans feel that they are only being cast in movies as terrorists and villains. For example in the packet, “Hollywood Now Plays Cowboys and Arabs”, it tells us that a group called anti-defamations organizations are protesting movies that cast Arabs as terrorists, such as “The Siege”. On the other hand, Lawrence Wright said, “If I had felt ‘The Siege’ was anti- Arab, I would have taken my name off of it. The fact is, I’m proud to have my name on it.” They think that Hollywood only makes it seem that all Muslims are terrorists. J.D. Hall said. “I’ve never come across a script about Muslims where they weren’t terrorists. They say that the thing they want the most is balance. As Moustapha Akkad said, “We cannot say there are no Arab and no Muslim terrorists, but at the same time, balance it with the image of the normal human being, the Arab-American, the family man. The lack of anyone showing the other side makes it stand out that Hollywood, Muslims are only terrorists.” It is true that it is not Hollywood’s responsibility to make sure all the Muslims are shown in the proper way, but if Hollywood were to do it, they would get a lot more respect from the Muslims and maybe even more viewers from the Arab- Americans. Secondly, not all Arabs are Muslims and not all Muslims are Arabs. It is wrong to say this because most Americans do not know the real facts. This is a normal stereotype to catoragize these two together. Well, here are the facts; only twelve percent of all Muslims are Arabs. Muslims live in Malaysia, Indonesia, and India, unlike in the Middle East, as most people stereotype them as to be from. Also, a lot of Arabs are Christians. For those who are being stereotyped, they feel it is Hollywood’s job to not stereotype them. But, it is the viewers who have the responsibility of educationally informing themselves to know stereotype from real life. Hollywood has a freedom of speech and they are just trying to make money. Its not like Hollywood has a huge grudge against Arabs and only want to show the world the bad side. It’s the viewers that count for Hollywood. A way Hollywood makes money is by people watching their movies, and Hollywood has to give the viewers what they want.

SM Town Entertainment Audition [Dance or Sing or Rap or Create Lyrics (still confused about this one)]?

SM Town Entertainment Audition [Dance or Sing or Rap or Create Lyrics (still confused about this one)]?
Hi, I'm a Chinese woman, was born in Indonesia, only fluent in English & Indonesia. I wanna ask few questions, hope u don't mind to answer ^^ -I'm 23 years old, already have an undergraduate degree of medical doctor in Indonesia, but need 2 more years to get the license to be a doctor in all hospitals. Being a doctor is what my parents want, not what I want. I wanna be a dancer, maybe a singer or a rapper too. So, I'm planning, when I'm 25 years old, I wanna get to the audition for SM. Well, will I be too old? -Do u know what are the things the SM score for? Since my parents forbid me to do stuffs beside being a medical doctor, so I learn the modern dance by myself, I learn sing or rap by myself too. So, I'm kind of yeah you know, maybe just too bad compare to another people. -Since I'm older than 18 years old, will I still need my parents allowance for this? Cause I know, no matter what I say & no matter what I do, they will not ever let me follow my dream. -& since my parents will not allow me to live in Korea, how can I get money there? And how much money will I need to get there (the living cost there)? (I can't work as doctor there if I'm not fluent in Korean & to get the license as medical doctor outside Indonesia, I must get one year training again, so working as medical doctor there is out of option). I'm confused for 5 years & just feel such a burden living a life my parents want. So, any answers will be such a great help for me. Thank u so much. P.S: these are my photoes ^^ I wanna get audition for SM, JYP, YG, but if I can, I wanna be in SM ^^ I'm 170cm & 55kg. I've never had any professional trainee / lessons.. I don't have any basic at all, but: SING: I just like to do it, though my voice is not too good >.< But I've ever win a contest, the second rank, when I'm in the 6th grade of elementary school. RAP: I've learned it lately because I like it & in my campus, all of the lecturers has ever tested me in tests orally, they say I could be a really good rapper if I learn it ^^ because sometimes I speak sooooo fast ^^ MODERN DANCE: I've never learned it before too, only do some practicing for 2-3 months, but I've ever performed in an open basketball competition in my college when I'm still in the first grade. INSTRUMENTS: -Piano: I've learned it from an institution ONLY the basic, and I've ever performed in an institution for 4 years, but it was a really long time agooooo... when I'm in the play group till the 2nd / 3rd grade of elementary school. Still remember how to read the musical notes, but I can only play if there's some musical notes. -Guitar: I've learned it by myself, well not too good, but I could read the musical notes of guitar and play some musics if I know the notes, and I've ever performed in a religious group for 2 years. -Keyboard: I've learned it by myself, I could read the musical notes, and play some musics if I know the notes, and I've ever performed in a religious group for 2 years. Of course I learned it in a condition that my parents don't know ^^ because they will be angry coz' I'm so serious if I'm doing all of those ^^ But yeah, I understand it pretty much that I'm still far far away if I've compared with another applicants >.< since I have no professional basics at all >.< So, please tell me, how big is the chance I could be in SM/JYP/YG?? Coz' I need to find some ways to make money (coz' my parents WILL NOT ever let me go) & coz' if I go to Korea, well, I will stop my "other life" (I mean I will not take an undergraduate school for medical doctor). The risks are too much, the ways are too hard, & I'm walking all alone (not with my parents), but if there's still a big chance, I will do practicing, practicing, & a LOT of practicing for these 2 years (like I said earlier "need 2 more years to get the license to be a doctor in all hospitals"). Harsh comments are fine ^^ I'd like to know it ^^ Thanks before ^^ http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/1287/yuancool6.jpg http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/5320/yuancool14edited1.jpg http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/6914/yuancool77.jpg http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/870/yuancool123110908.jpg http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/6685/yuancool140180109.jpg http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/170/yuancool150230509edited.jpg http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/3730/yuancool178190810edited.jpg http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/2306/yuancool185.jpg http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/3444/yuancool186170910.jpg

You are extremely young looking for your age but as someone who lived in Korea as an American I can understand how living with your parents and trying to finish your Doctorate (your parents wishes) and also you wanting to pursue your own dreams of wanting a career in singing or rap with SM. I looked into SM and found out that they are holding their yearly tryouts in Korea this year: http://wn.com/2009_SM_Entertainment_Global_Audition. Even if you aren't going to tryout I would suggest that you start the competition by fluffing the paperwork process and getting yourself out there. You LOOK much younger than your years but you have to take a look at the competition...I looked online at the people that they have chosen in the past and in all honesty these people are stellar performers who can sing and dance like stars like no one else can believe. A lot of the people who have won in the past have lived in poverty and left home and done whatever they had to do just to get into the competition and make the best they could do to become stars. SO...that saying...you are going to have to follow your heart and if you think you can become a star you are going to have follow that dream and probably leave home and just go for it. Find out when the next tryouts are and apply. If you make it and get chosen then you will know if it is worth giving up school or not. Perhaps SM is not your only choice. Perhaps there is a record label or a management company that is willing to pick you up and work with you and polish your skills and make you star. I am 50 years old and a businesswoman who went back to school several years ago to finish my PH D and did it. Several people told me not to do it....I turned my company that I built over to my Son and Husband and went back to college and finished my PH D and am now practicing in Psychology. Follow your heart and live your dream or you will never be happy. A woman can do anything a man can. Love you, do you, be you. You have to do for yourself because no one else ever will. Peace, Love & Happiness

-- SM ent chooses young trainees because they debut their artists in a minimum of 5 years... I'm sorry for discouraging you, but there's alot more agencies for you to choose :) * JYP - it's an amazing company run by Park Jin Young. although they debut artists really late because Mr. JYP seeks perfection. but they don't seek beauty, they seek for talented people and is really great in dance. as i noticed, all JYP artists are good in dancing. * YG (my most favorite one!) - specializes in RnB and hiphop. they REALLY don't care about beauty. they want 100% talent. they want singers... not dancer/rapper/composer or someone who plays instrument. but they consider them as specialty. * DSP - as what they say, 20% talent and 80% beauty. that's what they're looking for. * CUBE - JYP's sister company. this agency is also great, they have amazing artists. * PLEDIS - i don't know much about this company but i heard this is good too. -- SM need beautiful artists that has pure talents. -- i don't think you still need a parent's consent. :) even if the company shoulders the dorm, i think you still need an allowance for you food in there. so, you should save enough money already. XD and even if you don't need your parent's consent, you should let them know that you're going to korea and train. -- regarding your talent... i can't judge them if i haven't seen them yet. if you don't mind, i would like to hear your covers. (sing and rap) and see you dance.. so i can judge. well, if you want to. but if you don't, it's okay. hehe! ^^ -- it's nice to hear that you also rap. i think it's a plus. also dancing.. but you need to be good in singing too. if you like them to see you perform musical instruments, you can include them on your audition tape :) -- also, you don't have to know how to speak korean. just make sure that you speak/sing their language fluently without mispronouncing a word. :) -- and lastly, if you would like to audition in YG, i can give you more infos and i'll you in the best way i can. ^^

ex left for a married girl?

ex left for a married girl?
i was with my ex-fiance for seven years. we met in california. he was a marine, and i was working as a cocktail waitress. he got kicked out of the corps for smoking pot and i let him move in with me from the baracks. we moved to colorado and stayed with my parents while we got on our feet. we fought a lot, but we loved each other. he was mean to me. he would say things like he didn't need me and i was stupid and i needed to get my mind right. he pulled my hair. he put my head through a wall. i just stayed because i was sooo in love with him. then he got a good job and didn't want to ever take me out or buy me anything. i started getting sick. turns out i have multiple sclerosis. he gets angry because i couldn't work at the time. his job then moved him across the state. he was so mean to me the one time i went to see him that i told myself i would never go see him again. he started mellowing out and being nicer, but it was still really rough. he then informs me that he has met this girl and he is breaking up with me for her. she's a waitres and makes good money. she's from indonesia and is different and sexy and makes him laugh. he and i would sit on the sofa next to each other and i would crack jokes and try to make him laugh, and he would just sit there, stoic. i thought there was something wrong with me. so it turns out this great and sexy girl is married with a son she has abandoned. they have move in together and she's still married to another guy. she had him break up with me and now she's not handling her business. she lies all the time. i want to get over this. i want to move on. i feel better as it's been almost a year, but i still think about him and what him and that girl did to me EVERY SINGLE DAY. i asked my doc if stress can make my ms flare and he said yes. i know he made me sick. but i let him. i want the karma police to get him, but he's like the greasiest guy ever and just slips right past them. how can he and that girl get off scott free after their behavior? it's not fair! i'm sick and broke and lonely, and he is not making loads of money.

too longgggggggggggggg, i did not even read it all. grow up and get a GOOD education, you need it!

Trust me, what goes around, comes around. And it NOT pretty when it does! Have seen it happen so many times. Karma works, baby! This guy was MEAN to you, starting way back, and he proved himself to be a lout and a pig. Time to put this rubbish in the trash where they BOTH belong, close the door behind them, don't look back or waste one ounce of your energy on even THINKING about this sorry piece of humanity, and then you move on with a positive outlook for a GREAT future--and that's what will happen! Peace!
5 :
You need to find your self respect and forget about this loser. You already WASTED 7 YEARS ON HIM...and he is still controlling your life. Get a hobby, and move on.
6 :
He is not the greatest guy ever - OMGeee! He put your head through a wall! Karma will catch him! Trust me they aren't happy. First of all, let's take a good look at her. Who cares where she is from. Trifling is trifling in every nation (btw, where are both of you from?) She left her own child! She must have a lot of self-hate to leave her own baby! If she isn't loyal to her baby, she won't be loyal to him! And, him.... this is a man who feels so bad bout himself that he has to get aggressive with women to feel powerful. They are already miserable and it will only get worse. Hope you get satisfaction out of knowing that. Happiness is the best revenge, honey.
7 :
Think of it this way. You are free and the experience gives knowledge. You are rid of that b+Tc$! She will have to cater to that bum and you are a free bird to move on in life. It takes about a year to get over the hurt and the day will happen when you stop thinking of that creep. That girl did you a favor because now she has to deal with his crap. Concentrate on your future and go back to college or what ever trade you want and make your own future. Have a life that you can call your own.
8 :
You dont really still want him, do you?
9 :
The short is answer is to find someone else. If you want to pursue this guy and hope he will straighten out his life, become this super person, go back with you, I suggest that you, your ex BF, and Miss Indonesia see about being on the next episode of Dr. Phil.

choose what you love doing...its ALWAYS the way to go
2 :
I had this same problem. I love art, but my practical side said to study biology and medicine. I was horrible at sciences, so I switched to art. Now I work in real estate, and I use my art and rhetoric skills everyday. I'm happy with my career and my hobbies (art). I say do what you love, you'll find a way to make money doing it. If you are really dedicated, the world needs artists. You just won't make a ton of $ with it, so if $ is important, go with the practical.
3 :
Choose what you love doing. Don't think of it as just a job think of it as a career. My major is defiantly not going to get me good paying job but its in the industry I love so its worth it to me and its not that easy to find a job. Choose something that will make you happy. there are so many people out there who have an amazing job that's pays good money but they hate it and are miserable. In the end, don't listen to other people. Choose what feels right for you.

I was going to be a chemical engineer when I was in college. I wound up being an electrician and have been for 13 years and I LOVE my job. But in a few weeks, I'm gonna be mangaging an electrical prefabrication shop. I won't be making anywhere near the amount of money that I would have been making if I'd stuck with chemical engineering, but you know what? I really don't care about the money. The satisfaction of what I do is worth more to me than the money that I could have been making. You should take a skills/aptitude test at your local college and see what field you should go into. It just might save you some money in student loans.

Most people say that family is most important. If so, then you need to decide to what extent you would like to support a family. If you don't want a family, then you only need to support yourself and you have a wider range of career options. I would not choose the music industry because it has too many problems that may never be resolved. People are exchanging music and music sales are declining. Music is a fine minor, but don't major in it. Very few people get jobs in the music industry. Picking a major shouldn't be an either/or situation. You want to maximize the combination of financial reward and job satisfaction. You could be a music teacher which would generate a satisfactory income at least here in the U.S. A major in teaching with a minor in music would be great. Another idea would be to major in business and/or technology and minor in music. Then you could work for an entertainment company. You might be able to edge your way into the creative side of the business by rubbing shoulders with those employed on that side of the business. Your focus should be on finding a way to combine your love of music with an income that will support you and possibly a family.

Think about it and do what you love best!
