Aside from the real terrorist sitting in the White House.... Indonesians for the moment are fairly peaceable people, but if we ever really set them off somehow, and they ever really got hostile, and wanted to jihad, believe me, all 300 million or so of them would show us a brand new definition of terrorism

I doubt it. Despite their "questionable" ties, Indonesia is one of the more secular countries in which Islam is the prevalent religion. Granted there have been some terrorist actions throughout the country, but these have been rare in juxtaposition to similar circumstanced countries. Corruption within the government there may be a problem but the people of Indonesia have a strong sense of democracy and a respect for the rule of law. They are also fairly pro American view and their sense of democratic fairness (the people's) aligns our two nations closer than most people think. Moreover, the U.S. participation in tsunami relief a few years back has exalted our status among their people. I do not think Indonesia will become an enemy of the United States and I feel they will remain a key ally.

Fighting against Indonesia would be a nightmare: Trudging around in muddy Vietnam style rainforests while being attacked by suicide bombers.....300 million pissed off Muslims ....Al Qaeda would learn jungle warfare/terrorism and join the war.....there would be decapitations....it would be hell.....every island would be a battle....and there are many islands........Doesn't the U.S. have enough problems?

Hello world. I am looking to book a honeymoon for early September 2011 to Bali Indonesia. I am looking for a trust worthy travel agent in the San Diego area. Can anyone recommend a good agency? This trip is going to be pretty expensive so I want to ensure that I am getting the most for my money. Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated! Ideally we want a honeymoon villa at a really nice resort such as The Four Seasons in Ubud, Bali. Is it possible to make this happen for under $5k?

its pretty easy to book your accom and flights online - I don't remember the last time I even used an Agent. I can recomend this place in Ubud - Warwick Ibah in ubud - stunning here's the link to wotif - very safe. have used wotif for years - they have specials so check back regularly. You can look out cheap multi-stop flights, which will allow adventurous honeymooners explore different places. These days a Travel agent just adds expense to your budget. Booking your own flights and hotels on line will save you big bucks. but you can check out both. Try kahalatravel.com they are right in SD. (I went to SDS) and have helped me out once or twice but that was before I started doing all my own bookings. Hotels in Bali/Ubud The Sayan Terrace Resort is definitely not budget but really worth the price. Built down the wall of a much larger valley with stunning views. It is bordered by The 4 Seasons and The Amandari hotels that routinely charge $500 plus a night. The Sayan Terrace is around $150 and worth twice as much. I can not stress how cool this place is. The type of place you would want to go on your honeymoon. Check it out Sayanterraceresort.com for air tickets etc. check out this site and their Asian Air pass. it will give you many choices and allow other stops if you so desire. Starting price for RT is $1099 (plus taxes I think) http://www.airtimetable.com/airpass_asia… There are some very cool fares here and Cathay Pacific is a great airline. Do liberals know that private citizens may send their money to Greece, like we did for Indonesia?
Please tell me, why must we send EVERYONE'S tax dollar to Greece because you feel bad for that country? What is it about being a liberal that makes it so hard to just give....all on your own? It never "comes around" henry...and you still didn't explain why you can't send money on a private basis. David, two questions on this just a few minutes ago. Look em up. Gerald...the painful question that all liberals evade is the last one...why can't you just give on a private basis?

Why wouldn't you WANT your country as a representative of your morals to provide aid, does that NOT demonsstrate that Americans take the Moral high ground? What better way to polish the image of our nation of it's been sullied by the Bushites for the last 6 1/2 years

It is called humanitarianism, something you don't understand. One country helps another and then when that country needs help the other returns the favor. Just like good neighbors and friends do. It beats being selfish. Remember what goes around comes around. Do unto others that which you would wish done to you in the same situation.

Who has said we should send Greece tax money? I think you may have made that up. PS: I've looked for the posts and haven't found them. They also weren't in the international organizations forum. Can you provide the link? PPS: I think everybody knows you can send money privately any time you want through a charitable organization.

The US never gives foreign aid without expecting either political or economic favor in return, that's what foreign aid is all about, humanitarianism has little to do with it. You can't blame the liberals on this one, as it's the policy of conservatives as well, have you ever heard of a place called Iraq? One other thing, as a percentage of GDP, the United States gives the least amount of foreign aid among the 22 most developed nations in the world and you can look that up.

Hi friend...nice to meet u. Well, that questions depends on where u are going to stay. If u say that cost is for spending in Bali, well, may be u can but u have to stay in a very minimised place. so be more specific which part of Indonesia did u mean. Regards from Bali.

Who told you about such an amount? Friends in Indonesia live in Jakarta. They are 5 people. The family income is about 5 million Rupiah ( only one person is working as director at a puplic school). The three kids study at universities ( in Indonesia people have to pay a lot of money, to send kids to a good school). They own 2 houses, the houshold is well equipped. They eat best food every day. They have a car and a motor bike. Simply means, with more than 12 millions you would live like a king.
